FIRENZE – New High Speed Station

 Final design is based on architectural design by Sir N. Foster and structural design by ARUP.

The Station, 500×52 m, is underground for 25 m: final design has changed the construction technology from bottom-up to top-down. The part above ground – having two suspended levels – is realized with steel arches spanning 172 m. Among preparatory works an hydraulic underpass 150 m long has been designed, to be realized with the ‘push-in’ technique under rails.
